Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) [Maidan Garhi, New Delhi india 110 068] is a public university established in 1985 to provide access to quality higher educationthrough distance learning to remote students. It provides distance learning in a variety of disciplines including computer science, engineering, health sciences, law, humanities, social sciences, and agriculture. IGNOU offers certificate, diploma, graduate, post-graduate, and Ph.D. distance education courses. Its regional centersinclude Indian air force, army, and navy recognized centers. IGNOU was the first university in India to provide its students with a virtual campus.

The Andhra Pradesh Open University was established in August, 1982 by Act of the State Legislature. The University was renamed as "Dr. B. R.
